Closure: David's letter by David Ramada (teacher)

My name is David and I have been one of the teachers who have participated in this Comenius Project between of te cities of Manises and Gdansk.
This is the very first time I have had the opportunity to collaborate in a Comenius Project and my experience couldn’t be more positive. I would like to share with you what this Project has ment to me.
I remember how excited were our students at the IES.Jose Rodrigo Botet when the students from Gdansk came in. They were excited, not only because another students from another country had to live with them for a week but also because it was an opportunity to share something special, something they would remembre for sure.
In a Project like this where people from different countries work together you so realize that you are a part of someting bigger. Everything has to be prepared and well organized and without a doubt, it takes a great effort to accomplish everything that has been scheduled, but as they say the effort is worth it.
This kind of programs are a great opportunity  for the students to improve their knowledge of a foreign language and they also contribute to their education in many differents ways which are not less important than learning english.
When students go to a different country their reception of the world changes inevitably and that is something very positive. The country they visit stops being something they studied at the school or something maybe they have seen on TV. When students go to a different country that country becomes real for them. They walk in the streets and discover how different is the architecture, how different is the nature and even how different is the way of life of the people who live there.
Another great advantage of this kind of projects is that students have to take decisions in a scenario where they are not used to be and nothing is familiar to them. This helps students to develop other skills like initiative, communication and proactivity.
I also remember my first days at the IES.Rodrigo Botet when I met Amparo who was the responsable of this Project. She told me that she was working with a group of teachers to prepare the Comenius staying for a high school in Gdansk. I remember how enthusiastically she spoke of their own experience and how rewarding it had been for them.Without knowing what I was doing I volunteered to help them to organize the event. As I have said before, the experience has been extremely positive for me and I recommend it without a doubt.
I would like to finish off by thanking all my colleages for the opportunity to participate in this Project.

Thank you very much.
